The CDC recommends that all people between the ages of 6months and 24 yrs as well as seniors and those with compromised immune systems get immunized against the flu as well as receive the H1N1 (Swine Flu) vaccine.

So let me get this straight…usually, when a drug is developed that can cure things like, hmm….say certain types of cancers or can prevent the spread of cancers…testing goes on for years before people can even apply to try out the drug in a clinical trial.  In this case, drug companies have been rushing since spring, yup, a whole 6 months ago, to prepare a vaccine and have obviously not had the proper time to test the long term effects, but we should all run and get immunized.  I wonder how many of these drug company executives are actually getting their families immunized.

as to how serious the talks, research and some of the proposed h1n1 policy state laws under consideration opposing civil rights, especially in ME, MA and OK, have become.

Having read of lawsuits filed against h1n1 in Europe for reasons indicated in the below article, I am convinced that there is considerable reason not to take any new so called h1n1 vaccine, and to prepare for simlilar suits in the US, which I am prepared to do.

It’s been quite a while and the month I’ve spent away from this blog has been, needless to say, eventful. Some stuff I’ll talk about, others I’ll leave for a later time.

In early August, I was perusing the Ryanair site for cheap plane tickets to Hyères, France where my family has a summer home. It’s in the south just along the water, and I was in desperate need of sun in the final week of the summer before buckling down for what was sure to be (barring some cataclysmic shift of Earth’s axis) a cold and dark winter in Stockholm. Ryanair happens to have flights that go from Skavsta (about 90 minutes outside of Stockholm) directly to Hyères which is perfect. Furthermore, the roundtrip ticket was 50 EUR roundtrip! Which is insanely cheap. I couldn’t pass up a bargain. Better yet, I was able to convince a buddy to join me for half the trip!

I stopped by CVS to pick up a few things today and noticed a whole aisle entirely devoted to Halloween.  Weird.  Then I went into Harris Teeter and they were already selling these huge pumpkins in the produe aisle.

I quickly checked my phone-surely I must’ve slept through September and now it’s the middle of October or maybe they moved Halloween up this year! Oh, wait, it’s only September 14th and last I checked Halloween is still October 31st.  Sooo stores are just getting us psyched up for Halloween a whole month and a half early? I don’t get it.  Halloween is one of if not my favorite holiday of all time (free chocolate and candies of all kinds for a night? I’m so there).  But, really, putting out pumpkins and candy and decorations in the middle of September is just jumping the gun.  It’s not the first time I’ve seen this happen (Christmas is the dominant theme in stores even before the Thanksgiving turkey is set on the table), but I wonder who’s going to buy a pumpkin in, say, the next couple of weeks.

The flu season is upon us and staying calm, healthy and out of the Fear the media is spewing about can be helpful. Following an incubation period of 24-48 hours, the swine flu manifests in the form of fever with or without chills, headache, throat soreness, cough, a running nose, overall body ache and weakness in general. Vomiting and diarrhea have also been reported in some cases. There are many opinions out there about what is the best course of action:  to vaccinate or not, to take other preventive measures or to just ignore it altogether. Obviously, avoiding close contact with people who appear to be ill, washing hands frequently, sleeping well, eating wisely and exercising regularly will boost the immune system and keep the infection at bay. Young children and seniors with compromised immune systems seem most vulnerable. No one way can give you 100% immunity and so the choices are up to you.

This is neither a post about my travel experience nor my collection of travel photos. This is something about my upcoming travel to Phuket Island that has been disturbing my mind recently.I’m still not decided whether we should stick on to our earlier plan to travel to Phuket Island this coming October… because of the highly contagious Influenza A H1N1! We bought the discounted air ticket from Air Asia early this year, just before the H1N1 virus outbreak in Mexico.

The article says that “More than 2,000 students at Washington State University have come down withswine flu symptomsin just the first week of classes, school officials said Friday” (Emphasis mine).

Swine flusymptoms. What does that even mean? A runny nose? No doubt this information is based on self-reporting (like much of the “information” we have on the Swine Flu), which means that most of the students were probably hung over from the ‘first week of classes’ and reported these symptoms as potentially being the Swine Flu – because that’s what everyone is telling them it probably is.
